Security - Why your data is safe
Easy Password Manager stores all your information in a database file. A database is a special file containing information that is laid out in a way internally that makes it easy for computers to understand. But before Easy Password Manager puts your information into the database file, it "encrypts" the data using your Master Password. Became the database is encrypted, in the unlikely event that someone manages to get hold of your database file, it is pretty much useless to them because they do not have the Master Password to decrypt the information contained within the database.
The very nature of encryption makes it next to impossible to ever decipher encrypted data without the Master Password even with dedicated super computers. Many encryption routines defined many years ago have never been broken. Often the only way is to try every possible password and in many cases, even with the most advanced super computers available, this process would take many, many years. See below for more information on the nature of encryption.
Encryption - What is it and why does it work
The following description is a very high level description of what encryption is and how it works. Those wishing to find out further information should look to their local library or the Internet for detailed information on this fascinating subject.
Data encryption at its most simple level works by taking an encryption key (in EPM's case your master password) and using that key as the basis of a mathematical formula to be applied to the data that is to be encrypted. This produces output data, which when applied through the same mathematical formula reversed, and using the same password, will give back the original data. The reversing part is called decryption.
The mathematical formula used to encrypt and decrypt he data is often called the "encryption algorithm" and most will use advanced mathematical theories to make it very difficult, if not impossible, to decrypt any data that has been encrypted without the original key, or in Easy Password Managers case the Master Password. That is why it is so important you do not forget your Master Password as even the authors of the software would not be able to decrypt your information.
Trust - Why you can trust Easy Password Manager with your data.
Easy Password Manager does not misuse the information you store in it. Your data is stored it in its encrypted format on a specified folder on your hard drive. Easy Password Manager DOES NOT send any information to ANY third parties or to any sort of central server at any time.
Also under no circumstances does Easy Password Manager monitor or track any of your Internet activities. There are no adverts that will pop up whilst using EPM.
We make this claim because we understand how a user might feel dubious about storing their login data and credit card information in a third party piece of software but we assure you that Easy Password Manager keeps YOU in control of you data.
